At the Human Rights Campaign's 2022 National Dinner Sheryl Lee Ralph was honored with the National Ally for Equality Award where she delivered a powerful 12-minute speech. It was my honor and duty to craft a a cutdown of her remarks to empower and inspire every generation of queer people and their allies to take action against injustice. As the Associate Video Producer at HRC this is one of over 30 celebrity speech cutdowns I have crafted for HRC's social media platforms (some even being shared on celebrity platforms)! This video was in response to over 100 advocacy organizations and over 200 NYT contributors calling out the New York Times for allowing biased articles against trans people being continually published. This video was by definition a rapid-response video. I wrote (using language from our Communications team), shot, and edited this video in under 3 hours where it was then immediately published across our social media channels.
