Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws Force Pediatric Cardiologist to Transplant his Family
As fathers to two children, Jake and Tom Kleinmahon know how important it is for their family to be safe. That is why they made the heartbreaking decision to leave Louisiana, one of many states that have passed anti-LGBTQ+ laws. Their story as well as many other fathers who are concerned with their safety and that of their loved ones is a reminder of how we just come together to defend families, to defend love, in our own communities. For this project I acted as lead producer, coordinating pre-production and production, as well as editing this piece.

Pride is More Than a Parade
Coming into Pride in 2023 was like never before: record numbers of anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans legislation, increased hate speech targeting the LGBTQ+ community, a rise in public harassment, but also the highest level of support for the LGBTQ+ community and a new generation increasingly identifying as part of the queer community. This video was crafted with several speeches from HRC's annual dinners and footage from rally's across the country. From coming up with the messaging, to piecing together soundbites from hours of speeches, shooting some of the footage used, and editing it all together, this video was my attempt to show our community that Pride is more than a parade and the queer community will fight back with Pride. This video was also picked up by The Advocate and Yahoo News.
